College of Business

The College of Business at Idaho State University encourages students and faculty to engage in meaningful research that will add to existing knowledge within their respective fields. Several cross-disciplinary programs are available thanks to the united efforts of the College of Business and other schools at ISU.

BBA Healthcare Information Management

The Bachelor of Business Administration in Healthcare Information Management is a joint effort between the College of Business and the Division of Health Sciences. The program is designed for students who are primarily interested in the business aspects of healthcare and who want to quickly enter the workforce as information systems support workers. Required subjects include database design and implementation, healthcare information systems practices, basic principles of the U.S. health system and project management. These courses add up to 33 credit hours. When students successfully complete the program, they will earn a major in Computer Information Systems and Healthcare Information Systems. This degree will soon be renamed and referred to as the Health Informatics program.

B.S. Healthcare Administration

The B.S. in Healthcare Administration automatically includes a minor in Business. Students are expected to complete 120 credit hours in order to graduate. This degree is designed to help students succeed at entry-level or mid-level positions in healthcare management after graduation. Students must successfully complete courses concerning health law and bioethics, basic accounting and business mathematics, corporate financial management, healthcare policy, healthcare finance and human resources management in healthcare organizations. Students are also expected to complete an administrative internship if they wish to graduate with the B.S. in Healthcare Administration.

MBA Healthcare Administration

The MBA with an emphasis on Healthcare Administration is designed to produce exceptional business graduates who are well-equipped to handle working in administrative positions in the healthcare field. This includes far more than just hospital offices – graduates of this cross-disciplinary program will be able to work in medical research or for insurance companies if they wish to do so. Subjects taught include health care finance, ethics, health insurance and reimbursement, marketing and health organization management. Students must complete an internship in order to graduate from the MBA program. This internship can be completed at any hospital, care home, or medical facility. The experience provided will be an asset to the students after they graduate.

Graduates of the Healthcare Administration degree programs at ISU are expected to become professional leaders in the healthcare industry.
