Easy Ways to Kill Stress

In college, it’s easy to let stress get the best of you. With pressure, busy schedules, a shortage of cash, and being away from home, there’s a lot to deal with. But that doesn’t mean you have to live with stress. Here are a few easy ways to zap stress before it gets to you.

Give yourself quiet time. Getting caught up in the hustle and bustle of your college campus can make you forget what it’s like to have peace and solitude. Make it a habit to do something quiet like meditate, practice yoga, go hiking, or read a book at night.

Eat a healthy diet. Your body can better deal with stress if it’s adequately nourished. Focus on protein, good fats, and whole grains for a balanced diet, and be sure to always have plenty of fruits and vegetables easily available.

Find a friend who can listen. Even if you have lots of acquaintances, be sure to find at least one good friend that you can trust to share your troubles with. They may not be able to help you take action on what’s stressing you out, but just lending an ear can help you feel better about what’s going on.

Work more efficiently. For many college students, procrastination and overwhelming responsibilities are a major source of stress. Procrastination breeds worrying and stress, so putting off work doesn’t do anything to help you. Prioritize your work, create a schedule, and plan your attack to make sure that you can juggle everything you need to do to make things work.

Make time for fun. Don’t get so wrapped up in the demands of school that you forget to enjoy your time as a college student. Go to parties, hang out with friends, and make relaxation a real priority in order to make sure you stay stress free and keep your sanity.

Don’t let stress get the best of you in college. Make time for yourself, avoid letting work overwhelm you, and deal with stress as it comes.
