University of Utah
School of Medicine
The University of Utah ranks as the largest public university in the state and the largest public school system in the state as well. Founded in 1850, the university has a flagship campus in Salt Lake City and several other campuses scattered across the state. MPH
The MPH program at the University of Utah allows students to graduate with a Master of Public Health graduate degree. This 45 semester hour program lets students choose between enrolling full time or part time based on their needs and commitments, and students who go full time finish the program in around two years. Unlike other similar programs that require a high level of research and the completion of a final project or thesis, the University of Utah requires no research component. At least 15 semester hours of classes that students take are electives that let them study a topic outside of public health or a topic that relates to the public health field. MHA/MPH
The University of Utah also offers a joint degree that combines an MPH and an MHA. The MHA/MPH degree gives students the chance to work on a Master of Healthcare Administration and a Master in Public Health at the same time. Students take courses on public health through one college and business courses from another department. Despite earning two degrees, most students complete their studies in three years or less. As a 66.5 semester hour long program, students will take courses that show them the business side of healthcare administration and public health. Graduates later work for the federal, state and local government and in both the public and private sectors. The program also gives students a basic understanding of the advocacy sector. Weber State University
Dr. Ezekiel R. Dumke College of Health Professions
Weber State University went through a number of changes over the years before becoming the school it is today. Originally opened by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, it taught teachers and worked with students interested in education. It spent a number of years as a junior college that taught practical skills and offered diplomas before finally becoming a university and earning the right to award degrees to students. Despite having a population of more than 25,000 students, it still has a warm and welcoming feel that lets students feel more comfortable when going away to college.
Master of Health Administration

School of Nursing and Health Sciences
Westminster College is one of several schools in the state that opened with a different idea in mind. During its early years, it functioned as preparatory school that educated some of the first missionaries and religious people moving to Utah during the 19th century. Established in 1875, it didn't begin offering college classes until nearly 40 years later.
