Master’s Degree Programs in South Dakota

Despite its low population, South Dakota has become recognized for its growing and reputable health care system. The state takes pride in its medical facilities and, in return, these facilities offer many health care jobs, with excellent pay, benefits and advancement opportunities. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there were approximately 24,620 health care practitioners and technicians working in South Dakota, who made an annual mean wage of $57,270 in 2008. Some of South Dakota’s largest employers are Avera McKennan Hospital, Avera St. Luke’s Hospital, Rapid City Regional Hospital Inc. and Sanford USD Medical Center, according to the South Dakota Department of Labor. These medical facilities provide a variety of medical services and allow health care professionals to work in either urban or rural settings. South Dakota also has a high concentration of medical and clinical laboratory technologists, radiologic technologists and technicians and nuclear medicine technologists.
