Rhode Island might be a less populous state, but it makes up for its small size with its renowned medical centers and excellent health care workers. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there were about 30,380 health care practitioners and technicians working in Rhode Island in 2008, and their annual mean wage was $71,830, making them one of the highest salaried states that year.
