Master’s Degree Programs in New Mexico
New Mexico is home to 40,440 health care practitioners and technicians, who make an annual mean wage of $66,190, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. A unique aspect of New Mexico health care is the opportunity to provide medical care to Native Americans near Indian reservations. For example, the Indian Health Service operates hospitals and clinics for Native Americans who live on or near the Navajo Indian Reservation. Here, health professionals will get the chance to work with different tribes and assist them in their medical needs. Another big employer for health care jobs is New Mexico’s Department of Health, which operates six facilities that offer a variety of medical care in behavioral health, rehabilitation, adolescent treatment and veterans’ health. The medical fields with the most representation in New Mexico are speech-language pathologists and occupational health and safety specialists.
