Master’s Degree Programs in Indiana
The Great Lakes state of Indiana is home to approximately 6.4 million people, and the health care needs of those people must be met by qualified individuals who are ready to enter positions of administrative authority as an aging health care workforce retires. In addition, Indiana, like many other states, is experiencing a nursing shortage and will need to increase the number of its nurse managers, advanced practice nurses and nurse educators to meet that need. By far, Indiana’s biggest health care employer is the St. Vincent Health system, which includes 17 hospitals and is a member of Ascension Health, the largest Catholic health care system in the nation. Another major health care employer is the Clarian Health System, which is comprised of Methodist Hospital, Indiana University Hospital and Riley Hospital for Children. About 162,990 people were employed in careers as health care practitioners and technicians in Indiana as of May 2008, according to national labor statistics.
