Health care practitioners and technicians are pushing the industry forward in many of the hospitals and other medical facilities in the state of Alabama. One of the medical facilities where this is happening on a big scale is the Level I trauma center associated with the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), both of which are known around the world for medical research. UAB is also a major employer in this region of Alabama. Nearby Tuscaloosa is considered a hub for health care and commerce in the northwestern region of the state.
